2027: Aba South Deserves Stronger Grassroots Representation — Kachocho Campaign Team
As Aba South reflects on the past three years and looks ahead to the 2027 election, an important question deserves serious attention: where does the constituency stand today in terms of development, representation, accountability and grassroots engagement? Those who seek to be regarded as honourable representatives must demonstrate integrity, competence, accessibility and commitment through their actions. The people of Aba South deserve representation that listens to their concerns, communicates their needs effectively and pursues practical solutions that can improve everyday life across the wards and communities.
There have been visible infrastructure projects in Aba during this period, including the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road and several other roads in Aba South. The Abia State Government’s 2025 Citizens Budget also listed projects such as the 6.8km Port Harcourt Road, Obohia Road and Ohanku Road under Aba South.
However, development should not be measured by major projects alone. Residents also look at the condition of neighbourhood roads, drainage, sanitation, economic opportunities, youth empowerment, community engagement and how effectively their elected representatives bring grassroots concerns to government. The question, therefore, is not simply whether projects exist, but how widely their benefits are being felt across Aba South.
Against this background, the 2027 election provides an opportunity for residents to engage more actively with the choices before them. Supporters of Hon. Chinedu Akpulonu (Kachocho) present his candidacy as an opportunity for more responsive and purposeful representation, with emphasis on ward-level engagement, empowerment, accountability and service to the people. For such a vision to translate into meaningful results, mobilisation must reach every ward, community, street and stakeholder group, while residents should have the opportunity to ask questions, assess proposals and demand clear commitments on issues affecting their daily lives.
Aba South cannot afford to treat representation as something that begins and ends on election day. The 2027 conversation should be about the kind of legislative representation residents want and the measurable priorities they expect from whoever represents them. Kachocho’s campaign team is calling for stronger grassroots participation, closer interaction with constituents and a renewed focus on development, inclusion and responsible service.

Ultimately, the people of Aba South will make their choice based on the candidates, their programmes, records and the commitments presented to them.
