ABA SOUTH DESERVES MORE: DEVELOPMENT MUST COME WITH ACCOUNTABILITY
Ndi Aba South deserve representation that can be measured by results, not announcements. For over three years, the constituency has continued to contend with deteriorating roads, infrastructure challenges and several unresolved community needs. Yet, with 2027 approaching and public scrutiny increasing, the Nnentu–Umuebeke Road has suddenly become a major subject of political attention. This naturally raises important questions: where was the consistent advocacy, intervention and constituency engagement over the past three years, and where is the representative’s scorecard?
If Governor Alex Otti has approved the construction or rehabilitation of the Nnentu–Umuebeke Road, the people of Aba South should welcome and appreciate the intervention. Any genuine government effort capable of improving the lives and economic activities of residents deserves support. However, a government project should not automatically be presented as proof of three years of legislative performance. The people have the right to distinguish between government intervention and what their elected representative personally initiated, facilitated, attracted or pursued on behalf of the constituency.
A single road project cannot answer three years of accountability questions, just as a commissioning ceremony cannot replace a comprehensive record of service. Ndi Aba South is not against development; the people simply want consistent, transparent and effective representation. They are asking straightforward questions: What has been delivered? What projects have been attracted? What interventions have been facilitated? What tangible achievements can the people identify and confidently associate with their representation?
As the 2027 elections draw nearer, Aba South deserves a conversation based on facts, performance and measurable impact rather than political publicity. Leadership should be judged by vision, competence, courage and the ability to produce results that improve people's lives. Let the Nnentu–Umuebeke Road be built, and let every genuine development be welcomed—but accountability must remain non-negotiable. SHOW US THE SCORECARD! Aba South deserves year-round representation and sustained constituency service, not heightened activity only when questions about performance begin to surface. 2027 must be about RESULTS, NOT RHETORIC.
