BREAKING: INEC Fixes February 20, 2027 for Presidential Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled February 20, 2027, for Nigeria’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place two weeks later, on March 6, 2027.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, unveiled the timetable on Friday at a press briefing in Abuja. The announcement comes amid growing concerns about delays in the passage of the amended Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly.

According to INEC, work on the election timetable and schedule of activities was completed as of February 4, despite the pending amendment. The commission noted that although the timetable has been submitted to lawmakers, certain activities may be revised depending on when the amended Electoral Act is passed.
