Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso completed his registration on Monday at the Kwankwasiyya House in Kano, where he was issued his ADC membership card, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The event attracted several high-profile political figures, including former Senate President David Mark, ex-governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, as well as Dino Melaye and John Odigie-Oyegun.

Supporters and party stakeholders also thronged the venue along Miller Road in the Bompai area of Kano State to witness the high-profile defection, which is expected to influence political calculations in the lead-up to 2027.
