Billionaire Businessman Joseph Ezeokafor Reportedly Abducted While Praying in Anambra
Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a Nigerian billionaire businessman and founder of Jezco Oil and Jezco Group, has reportedly been abducted in Anambra State. Ezeokafor, who is also the father of Instagram personality Jowizaza, was allegedly kidnapped last week while praying alone on a mountain in Awka, according to lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu.
Iwuchukwu, in a Facebook post on Sunday, claimed that the businessman had gone to the mountain without his usual security personnel and police officers who were often attached to him. He alleged that unidentified gunmen seized Ezeokafor during the prayer session and whisked him away to an undisclosed location. The reported incident has reportedly sparked concern and sadness in Ekwulobia, his community, where he is regarded as one of its most prominent and wealthy sons.
The lawyer also said the incident had affected preparations for the community’s annual New Yam Festival, which was reportedly postponed despite the celebration not having been delayed in previous years. According to him, residents considered it inappropriate to proceed with festivities while the family of their “illustrious son” was facing the reported abduction. Iwuchukwu further suggested that Ezeokafor’s decision to pray without his regular security detail may have exposed him to the alleged attackers. As of the time of the report, there was no confirmed information on whether the businessman had been rescued or whether security agencies had made any arrests in connection with the incident.
