What was meant to be a future filled with hope, love, and shared dreams ended in a heartbreaking tragedy.
Ifeanyi Stanley, popularly known as Don Cash, and Vivian Chinedum Akabuike were lovers and alumni of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra State. Their relationship, according to sources, had blossomed over the years, with both looking forward to building a life together as husband and wife.
Ifeanyi worked as a PoS operator and Moniepoint distributor, while Vivian was a baker striving to establish herself. Like many young Nigerians, they were working hard and making sacrifices in pursuit of a better tomorrow.
On Sunday night, Ifeanyi visited Vivian at the Elite Five Star Hostel in Oko, where she resided. Sadly, at about 10:45 p.m., disaster struck when the hostel collapsed.
The couple became victims of the tragic incident, losing their lives together beneath the rubble. The dreams they had carefully nurtured—their plans for marriage, family, and a brighter future—were cut short in an instant.
Their story is a painful reminder of how unpredictable life can be. It also underscores the importance of ensuring that buildings meet safety standards to prevent avoidable tragedies.
As the community mourns the loss of the young couple and other victims of the collapse, their memory lives on as a testament to love, resilience, and dreams left unfulfilled.
Indeed, the graveyards are filled with people whose dreams were never realised.
