Grassroot Mobilisation
The mobilization drive spearheaded by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, LL.D, CFR, for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to gain remarkable momentum. This renewed push reflects growing confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the increasing acceptance of his Renewed Hope Agenda across communities. Supporters describe the movement as timely, strategic, and people-focused as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually take shape.
As part of this effort, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have officially launched a structured mobilization campaign aimed at deepening grassroots awareness and engagement. The initiative is designed to take the message of the Tinubu administration directly to the people, emphasizing policy direction, governance reforms, and developmental priorities. From wards to local communities, the mobilization seeks to consolidate support by highlighting tangible achievements and future prospects.
This rising momentum, however, has seemingly unsettled the opposition, who are now reportedly running helter-skelter to radio stations in a bid to rally public support. Political observers note that the sudden media activism by opposition figures signals anxiety in the face of a growing and organized grassroots movement. Rather than presenting clear alternatives, critics argue that the opposition appears more focused on countering narratives than addressing core governance issues.
Critics further contend that the opposition has struggled to point to verifiable landmark projects that have positively impacted the lives of Abians. Instead, they are accused of relying heavily on social media publicity and praise-singing without corresponding evidence on ground. This approach, according to analysts, has widened the credibility gap between political messaging and lived realities within the state.

Several examples are often cited to buttress these criticisms, including claims of smart schools allegedly built but unseen, the much-talked-about AIIP Ukwa Owaza with no visible development, and senior citizens’ welfare programs where beneficiaries aged 60 and above are yet to receive any payments. Such unfulfilled promises, critics argue, have weakened public trust and raised questions about accountability and sincerity.
In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) points to visible progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as evidence of purposeful leadership. From economic reforms to infrastructural development and governance restructuring, the administration maintains that its record speaks louder than propaganda.

It is this confidence in delivery and direction, supporters say, that continues to fuel the growing momentum behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of 2027.
