A lecturer at Abia State University, Dr. KC Izuogo of the Department of Mass Communication, has been suspended following allegations that he demanded students purchase his handout for ₦5,000 and pay an additional ₦20,000 to pass his course.
The allegation reportedly surfaced after claims circulated among students that the lecturer made the payment demand as a condition for passing his course, sparking widespread concern within the university community.
According to the reports, students further alleged that those who failed to comply with the payment instructions risked being deliberately failed in the course.
The development triggered reactions from students and stakeholders who called for a swift investigation into the matter, insisting that academic integrity must be upheld within the institution.
In response to the controversy, the university management reportedly moved to suspend the lecturer pending further investigation into the allegations.
The suspension is said to be part of disciplinary measures aimed at ensuring a fair and transparent review of the claims and maintaining order within the academic environment.

Authorities of the institution have not yet released full details of the investigation, but sources within the university indicate that a panel may be set up to examine the allegations and hear from all parties involved.
The case has continued to generate discussions among students and the public, with many calling for stricter enforcement of ethical standards in tertiary institutions across the country.
