Just In:
Bende Needs Many Yams to Feed On, Not Just a Tuber
Bende Federal Constituency is too large and too important to be represented by a single symbolic gesture. Our people need meaningful interventions, sustainable development and practical solutions that can touch lives across the various communities that make up the constituency. One tuber of yam, no matter how big, cannot possibly feed an entire constituency.
The question, therefore, is simple: How can one tuber of yam feed the whole of Bende Federal Constituency? It may sound amusing, but behind the humour lies a serious message. Our people deserve more than gestures that look good for the camera but offer little lasting value to the majority.
Bende needs initiatives that can reach farmers, traders, youths, women, artisans and vulnerable households. We need empowerment programmes that provide people with the tools, resources and opportunities to become self-reliant, rather than temporary handouts that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive.
Development should not be measured by the presentation of one item, but by the number of lives positively transformed. If the intention is truly to feed Bende, then let us talk about many yams, many opportunities and many sustainable programmes capable of reaching communities across the constituency.
Our people are wise enough to distinguish between genuine empowerment and political symbolism. They deserve representatives who understand the scale of the challenges confronting Bende and are prepared to pursue solutions that match the needs of the people.
