Yesterday, Bende witnessed another historic moment as we commissioned the reconnection of several communities to the National Grid, effectively ending years of darkness and uncertainty.
Over the years, multiple attempts were made to restore electricity to these communities, but they were met with persistent challenges, ranging from technical constraints to the theft and vandalism of critical infrastructure. Despite these setbacks, we did not relent.
I am delighted to have fulfilled the promise I made to the people of Bende. With the restoration of power, businesses will no longer shut down at night, economic activities can thrive, students can study under better conditions, and families can enjoy improved quality of life.
Having commissioned a solar power project just weeks ago, and now successfully reconnecting these communities to the National Grid, the challenge of electricity is steadily becoming a thing of the past. Very soon, this progress will be extended across the entire communities in Bende Federal Constituency.
I am grateful to the people of Bende whose prayers, patience, and support have been encouraging. I therefore urge all beneficiaries to take collective ownership of these facilities and protect them from vandalism, so that this achievement can be sustained for generations to come.
