Benjamin Kalu: Empowerment Is About Creating Lifelong Opportunities, Not One-Time Gifts
Empowerment is not a gift you give once; it is an opportunity you create for a lifetime.
Today, I visited over 130 of my constituents undergoing a four-month artisan skills training in building-related trades, organised by my office in partnership with the African Development Bank.
I was encouraged by their enthusiasm and determination to learn. This is more than skills acquisition; it is about building confidence, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Empowerment must go beyond short-term interventions. We must equip our people with skills that create opportunities, open new markets and enable them to build businesses, careers and lasting legacies.

This is the empowerment we must pursue: skills for tomorrow, opportunities for today, and a stronger future for our people.
