CHIEF ERIC OPAH MEETS EU AMBASSADOR, UNVEILS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT VISION FOR ABIA.

Yesterday, 7th of July, 2026, the Abia APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Chief Eric Opah, held a strategic meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, at the EU Mission House in Abuja.

Chief Opah led the delegation, which included Dr. Godswill Agu Egbe, Engr. Chibuzo Esihe, and Ukauzo C. Augustine, Esq.

During the meeting, Chief Opah presented his economic development vision and governance strategy for Abia State if elected governor in 2027, by the grace of God and support of Abians. He outlined plans to drive economic growth through substantial investment in the green economy, a policy direction he noted aligns with the European Union's climate change objectives.

Chief Opah also highlighted his vision for an organised and properly Industrialised Aba with government support in the area of manufacturing, commerce and enterprise as the economic hub of the state.

On youth development, Chief Opah said his administration would prioritise investments in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to create employment opportunities, which would curb crime and youth restiveness

Speaking on healthcare, Chief Opah explained that his government would introduce an upgraded primary healthcare model in which medical personnel would be provided with residential accommodation within rural health facilities to ensure the delivery of 24-hour healthcare services. He maintained that the residence initiative would address the current situation in which many healthcare workers reside far from their duty posts, affecting service delivery.

In his remarks, Ambassador Gautier Mignot commended Chief Opah for offering himself for public service, describing democracy as a government of the people. He thanked the APC governorship candidate and his delegation for the visit and acknowledged Chief Opah's experience in building a multinational business with operations in five countries, including the United States.

The Ambassador also disclosed that the European Union is making preparations for its 2027 general election observation mission in Nigeria and noted that Abia State will be among the states within its monitoring scope.
