Emeka Atuma Unveils Waste-to-Wealth Vision for a Cleaner and Prosperous Abia Central
By: Aglow TV
The All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for Abia Central Senatorial District, Chief Emeka Atuma, has pledged to introduce a comprehensive Waste-to-Wealth Initiative aimed at transforming waste management across the district while creating sustainable economic opportunities for residents. Recognising the industrial nature of Abia Central, Atuma said the initiative is designed to address environmental challenges, improve public health, and unlock the economic value hidden in waste materials.
According to the APC senatorial candidate, the programme will provide a modern and sustainable solution to the growing challenge of waste disposal by converting refuse into valuable resources. He stressed that instead of allowing waste to pollute communities and clog drainage systems, the initiative would promote recycling and resource recovery, thereby turning environmental liabilities into productive assets. He noted that the project aligns with global best practices in environmental sustainability and green economic development.
Chief Atuma explained that organic waste generated from homes, markets, and agricultural activities would be processed into high-quality organic fertiliser. This, he said, would support farmers with affordable soil nutrients, enhance agricultural productivity, and reduce dependence on imported chemical fertilisers. The initiative, he added, would also encourage proper waste segregation and foster a cleaner environment across the senatorial district.
He further revealed that inorganic waste such as plastics, metals, glass, and other recyclable materials would be collected and processed into useful products for commercial purposes. According to him, this aspect of the programme would stimulate small and medium-scale enterprises, encourage private sector investment in recycling, and create employment opportunities, particularly for youths and women who will participate in waste collection, sorting, and recycling activities.
The APC flag bearer maintained that beyond environmental sanitation, the Waste-to-Wealth Initiative would contribute significantly to economic growth by creating new value chains and empowering local communities. He expressed confidence that the programme would attract investors, encourage innovation in waste management, and position Abia Central as a model for sustainable urban and industrial development in Nigeria.
Chief Emeka Atuma concluded by reaffirming his commitment to building a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Abia Central Senatorial District through visionary leadership and people-oriented policies. He assured constituents that the Waste-to-Wealth Initiative would not only improve environmental conditions but also generate wealth, create jobs, and promote a healthier and more sustainable future for every community within the district.
