Faulks Road Flooding Highlights Urgent Need for Lasting Infrastructure

The heavy rainfall that flooded sections of Faulks Road leading to Ariaria once again exposed the persistent drainage challenges confronting the area. I nearly fell into an uncovered manhole yesterday because it was completely hidden beneath the floodwater, creating a serious danger for both pedestrians and motorists. Earlier today, campaign vehicles were also trapped and partially submerged by the flooding, underscoring how severe the situation has become whenever it rains.

While political campaigns and media engagements remain part of the democratic process, the people of Abia deserve more than promises and publicity. They deserve durable roads with efficient and properly maintained drainage systems capable of channeling stormwater and reducing flooding during the rainy season.

Addressing these longstanding infrastructure deficiencies should remain a priority, as it will protect lives, improve mobility, and enhance the daily living conditions of residents across the state.
