FG Renames Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway After President Tinubu

Federal Government says the landmark infrastructure project will now be known as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway in recognition of his vision and leadership.

The Federal Government has officially renamed the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway, in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's vision and commitment to delivering one of Nigeria's most ambitious infrastructure projects. The announcement marks a significant milestone in the history of the flagship highway, which is expected to transform transportation, trade, and economic activities along Nigeria's southern coastline.

The decision to rename the highway reflects the government's recognition of President Tinubu's role in conceiving and driving the project, which has been described as a strategic investment in the country's long-term economic growth. The coastal highway is designed to improve connectivity among several states, facilitate commerce, create jobs, and unlock new opportunities for tourism and industrial development.

Stretching from Lagos to Calabar, the highway is one of the largest road infrastructure projects currently underway in Nigeria. It is expected to enhance regional integration, reduce travel time, improve access to coastal communities, and stimulate investments across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and real estate.

Government officials have maintained that the project represents a major step toward modernising Nigeria's transport infrastructure and strengthening the nation's economic competitiveness. They believe the road will serve as a catalyst for sustainable development by opening up new economic corridors and improving the movement of people and goods.

The renaming also underscores the administration's desire to immortalise what it considers a transformational national project initiated under President Tinubu's leadership. Supporters of the decision argue that the highway symbolizes a bold vision for infrastructure development capable of reshaping Nigeria's economic landscape for generations to come.

As construction progresses, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Coastal Highway is expected to remain a flagship project of the Federal Government, with authorities expressing confidence that it will deliver lasting economic, social, and developmental benefits while serving as a legacy of modern infrastructure for future generations.
