GOVERNOR OTTI AND THE ENEMIES WITHIN - PART 1
The Abia political space has become so toxic. This is made possible by those who cannot thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
These set of people are very easy to identify because they will always find a way to warm themselves into every administration.
And they succeed in doing that by labeling, blackmailing and disparaging anyone who dares to question policies and even condemning and distancing themselves from the past administrations they worked with.
These set of people are the reason why you see the very alarming degree of toxicity in the Abia political space today.
They usually need leaders to be at war with each other, for them to become relevant.
They thrive in smaller spaces!
Build up to the 2023 general election that produced Governor Alex Otti, to some people, Okezie Ikpeazu was the best thing that happened to Abia State, he was the Moses that was ordained by God to bring the children of Isreal out of Egypt.
They even endorsed and campaigned for the candidate he handpicked to replace himself against Gov Otti.
These set of people demonstrated all forms of loyalty to OVI, including immortalizing him and his family members, it took only one action which was about to affect their political survival for OVI to metamorphose from Moses to Pharaoh and the rest is history. We will espouse on that later!
Today, the same energy they used to raise a one million march for OVI and demonise Gov Otti who was then the lone opposition voice, is the same energy they are using to praise the same Otti they demonized and called all sorts of names. Is God not Wonderful?
Who says this same persons cannot turn against Gov Otti tomorrow at the slightest wind of uncertainty?
These set of people are the architects of the rift between Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu and Gov. Alex Otti.
Recall that before now Benjamin Kalu was Abia's National Logo and Diamden, loved by all and respected in every front, he was commended for the good working relationship he propagated with the Governor even when they do not belong to the same party.
The Deputy speaker and Dr Alex C. Otti became so close and best of friends, to the extent that the Governor organized a civic reception for him wherein he was honoured with the most prestigious title in Abia, the Enyi Abia, and on that very occasion, the Deputy speaker acknowledged the good works the Governor was doing.
What broke the camels back was the call for the Governor to join APC.
Pray, tell me how that is a crime?
Good partymen will always want the best brains and heads to be in their party and that is what the Deputy Speaker craved. To belong to the same party with his big brother, friend and his Governor!
What is Governor Otti doing now that joining APC will stop him from doing?
Gov Peter Mba of Enugu state, left PDP and joined APC, did that stop the mind blowing infrastructural revolution happening in Enugu state?
Gov Umo Eno left PDP and joined APC, did that stop the state allocation from coming to the state?
Political parties are mere vehicles through which politicians vie for political office and does not in anyway determine performance.
When the same people saw that Gov Otti isn't perturbed by the call to join APC by his younger brother, infact he made jokes with it, these faceless minions went back to the drawing board and this time, they foisted a Governorship ambition on the Deputy Speaker.
In their stupid and warped brains, they failed to ask themselves one simple question.
If truly Benjamin Kalu wants to run for the Governorship position IN 2027, why will he want to have a first time sitting Governor in the same party with him, knowing that the sitting Governor will seek re-election and that it will Jeopardize his chances of actualizing his dreams?
They didn't think that through, they flew the kite and has continued to fan its embers. Since then the whole Abia political space degenerated to a very toxic state where insult is traded, malice bought and sold on all social media platforms.
These set of people are not afraid for the development of Abia state, because they know that joining a new party cannot stop the development of the state.
They are not also afraid for Governor Alex Otti's second term bid because they know that by performance and in principle, he will get a second tenure ticket if he joins APC or any party he joins.
Rather they are afraid for themselves!
They are afraid of competition!
They are afraid of playing in a bigger league!
They know that APC will swallow some of them that they will become invisible and irrelevant!
The ones among them holding political office also know that their tickets cannot be guaranteed, because there are people who are already in APC eyeing same office.
They don't hate APC, they are only protecting their territory and are afraid of loosing their grounds if Governor Otti joins a bigger league.
The above is the reason you see the degree of bitterness and insult they haul at Hon. Ben Kalu.
They see him as the man who has come to shake their foundation, and take them from the known to the unknown.
The danger in what they are doing is that in trying to protect their territory, they are not thinking about the political survival of Gov Otti.
Today, his party the labour switches leadership every forth night and these people don't care.
In a few months time, political parties will begin to conduct their primaries, they have not bordered to ask themselves with which platform will the Governor launch his re-election bid.
In the end, Gov Otti will realize that the real enemies he has are the ones within!
The ones who really didn't care about his political survival rather their selfish interests and their bid to remain relevant in a smaller enclosure!
