Office of the Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu LL.D, Ph.D, CFR
I am delighted to see the South East Development Commission (SEDC) convene the “South East Vision 2050 (SEV2050)” dialogue, a timely step towards charting a clear and collective pathway for our region’s future.
As the Sponsor of the Bill that brought the Commission to life, my commitment has always been about service, and I remain steadfast on that path. The South East is blessed with performing Governors and capable leaders who will drive this initiative effectively, and I am pleased to see the strong ownership being taken at this defining moment.

Despite my unavoidable absence due to prior commitments, I have followed the dialogue closely and listened with pride to the thoughtful contributions of our Governors and stakeholders. I commend the team at the Commission, led by the Chairman, Chief Emeka Wogu, Ph.D, and the Managing Director, Mark Okoye, for their dedication to making this vision a reality.

My sincere gratitude goes to Vice President Kashim Shettima for gracing this epoch-making event.
At last, the South East has secured the key platform for coordinated regional growth and strategic development, one I have always longed for.

The journey to a stronger, more prosperous South East is firmly underway, and the future is indeed bright. I thank His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making this come true, I also appreciate the members of the National Assembly for their support.
