Onyeama Augustine Advocates Youth Empowerment Bill in Abia State
Hon. Onyeama Augustine has called on the Abia State House of Assembly to urgently consider and pass a bill aimed at establishing comprehensive youth skills acquisition, entrepreneurship development, vocational training, and economic empowerment programmes across the state. According to him, such legislation is necessary to address the growing challenges of unemployment and economic hardship facing many young people in Abia.
He emphasized that meaningful youth development requires practical policies and sustainable programmes rather than mere promises and rhetoric. By creating opportunities for skill acquisition and entrepreneurship, the government can equip young people with the tools needed to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
The proposed bill, he noted, would provide a structured framework for vocational training and capacity building, enabling youths to explore various trades, businesses, and innovative ventures. This, he said, would not only reduce joblessness but also contribute significantly to the economic growth and development of Abia State.
Hon. Onyeama Augustine further urged lawmakers to prioritize the welfare and future of Abia youths by supporting the bill. He maintained that investing in young people today is the surest path to building a prosperous and sustainable future for the state, ensuring that the next generation has greater opportunities and a brighter tomorrow.
