Osisioma Communities Appeal to Emeka Atuma for Urgent Intervention on Failing Road Infrastructure
Residents of several communities in Osisioma have made a passionate appeal to Hon. Emeka Atuma, the APC flag bearer for the Abia Central Senatorial District, urging him to prioritize their long-standing infrastructural challenges if elected. According to community members, years of neglect have left major access roads in deplorable condition, making movement difficult and slowing economic activities across the area.
The affected communities pointed specifically to Umuode Road, Umuojima Road, Ekeakpara Road, and several other critical routes that they say have deteriorated over the years without receiving the attention they deserve. They lamented that successive representatives allegedly failed to address the worsening condition of these roads despite repeated appeals from residents.
Community leaders and business owners explained that the poor road network has virtually cut them off from the city centre, making transportation difficult for commuters, traders, farmers, and students. They noted that many businesses have suffered significant losses as customers and investors are discouraged by the inaccessible roads, while the cost of transporting goods and services has continued to rise.
The residents also expressed disappointment that previous senators representing the district, as well as current appointees from the Osisioma clan serving in the present administration, have not done enough to address what they described as a critical infrastructure deficit. They argued that despite having sons and daughters occupying influential positions, their communities have continued to experience neglect.

Calling for a new direction in leadership, the people said they are placing their hopes in Hon. Emeka Atuma, believing that his experience and federal connections could attract meaningful development projects to the area. They expressed confidence that, if given the opportunity to represent Abia Central in the Senate, Atuma would champion the rehabilitation of the abandoned roads and restore economic activities, improve connectivity, and bring lasting relief to the people of Osisioma.
