Rescued Oyo Pupils, Teachers to Remain Under Medical Observation for 48 Hours — Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has confirmed that all the pupils and teachers recently rescued from captivity have been safely reunited with authorities and will remain under medical observation for the next 48 hours. The governor disclosed this while providing an update on the condition of the victims following their successful rescue by security operatives.

Makinde explained that the medical observation is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the physical and psychological well-being of the rescued individuals after the traumatic experience they endured in captivity. He noted that healthcare professionals have already commenced comprehensive assessments to determine their condition and provide any necessary treatment.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and all stakeholders who played vital roles in securing the safe release of the pupils and their teachers. He described the operation as a significant achievement and a demonstration of the government's commitment to protecting lives and ensuring public safety.

According to him, the state government will continue to provide the necessary support to the rescued victims and their families. He added that arrangements are being made to offer counseling and other forms of rehabilitation to help them recover from the ordeal and reintegrate into their normal lives.

Makinde also commiserated with the family of the teacher who reportedly lost his life during the incident, assuring them that the government would stand by them during this difficult period. He emphasized that every effort would be made to ensure justice and strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
