Residents of St. Eugene Road Challenge Abia Government's Claim of 414 Completed Roads
Residents of St. Eugene Road in Aba have raised concerns over the condition of their road, arguing that the state government's claim of constructing 414 roads across Abia does not reflect the reality in many parts of Aba. They point to the deteriorating state of their road, which is plagued by flooding, potholes, and poor drainage, as evidence that several communities are still waiting for meaningful infrastructure development.
According to community members, the condition of St. Eugene Road has continued to worsen, making daily movement difficult for motorists, pedestrians, traders, and residents, especially during the rainy season. They are calling on the government to prioritize the rehabilitation of neglected roads and ensure that infrastructure projects reach every part of the city.
The residents emphasized that while they welcome every genuine development effort, they believe government performance should be measured by the visible impact on communities rather than by official figures alone. They urged the authorities to inspect the road firsthand and address the challenges affecting the area.
Community members expressed hope that their concerns would receive prompt attention, stressing that improving roads such as St. Eugene Road would enhance transportation, support businesses, reduce flooding, and improve the overall quality of life for residents in Aba.
