President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a formal step toward seeking re-election in 2027 after securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the upcoming presidential race.
The forms were obtained on Tuesday on his behalf by Hon. James Faleke, the federal lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos State and one of the president’s trusted political allies and long-time associates from his Lagos political base.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, officially handed over the nomination documents to Faleke at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, marking the strongest public indication so far of Tinubu’s intention to pursue a second term in office.
The development comes amid increasing political activity across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, as various political actors intensify consultations and strategic alignments.
Opposition figures, including Labour Party’s Peter Obi, are also reportedly engaging in nationwide discussions with political stakeholders and elder statesmen.
Tinubu’s acquisition of the APC nomination forms effectively signals the beginning of what is expected to be a highly competitive and closely watched election cycle.
