LET THE RECORD SPEAK: BEN KALU’S WORK IN BENDE CANNOT BE ERASED BY POLITICAL NOISE

Political criticism is part of every democratic contest, but criticism cannot erase projects that communities can see and use. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu's case is not built merely on speeches or campaign promises. As Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives and representative of Bende Federal Constituency, his record includes interventions in roads, education, healthcare, water and electricity. In April 2025, projects commissioned in Bende included reconstructed classroom blocks at Okopedi Community Primary School in Itumbauzo, Etitiulo Primary School, Bende Secondary Grammar School and Central School, Bende, alongside roads and solar-powered boreholes.

The argument becomes even clearer when the constituency projects are examined community by community. Kalu's official project record lists the Amokwe-Akanu road, Agboakoli ancient road in Alayi, Bende Market Road, Ndiokorieukwu Road, Bende headquarters road, Amaeke Isiegbu-Umuhu Road, Amazu-Umuokwe Road, roads in Ozuitem and Uzuakoli, as well as the construction of a garri-processing mill and additional classroom blocks. These are not abstract promises; they are specific interventions attached to identifiable communities and sectors.

His legislative position also gives the constituency access to a wider platform. Kalu has served as Deputy Speaker since 2023, and the National Assembly's official profile identifies his legislative interests as national development, women and youth inclusion, project implementation and manpower development. His official record also highlights his role in constitutional review and his legislative work in the 10th Assembly. That combination of constituency representation and a senior national legislative position is central to the case his supporters make for his continued leadership.

So the debate in Bende should not be reduced to who can make the loudest accusation or generate the biggest political headline. The more concrete question is what has been delivered, where it has been delivered and what remains under construction. Kalu's supporters can point to projects across roads, schools, healthcare and other areas, including interventions recorded across multiple wards of the constituency. Political opponents are free to challenge the quality, completion or impact of particular projects, but those challenges should be measured against the documented record rather than replacing it.

For Ben Kalu's supporters, the message is therefore straightforward: let the projects, the legislative record and the constituency footprint speak louder than political noise.
