Mutfwang Condemns Fresh Attack On Plateau, Urges Citizens To Shun Reprisal
The government, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, said it received with grave concern reports of attacks in parts of Mangu on Saturday, September 12, 2026, which resulted in deaths and injuries.
The Plateau State Government has condemned fresh attacks in parts of Mangu and Jos South Local Government Areas of the state, describing the incidents as deeply disturbing and reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property.
The government, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, said it received with grave concern reports of attacks in parts of Mangu on Saturday, September 12, 2026, which resulted in deaths and injuries.
It also expressed concern over a reported tragic incident at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area, on Sunday, September 13.
The government said the incidents were particularly disturbing coming at a time when the administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang had continued to strengthen the state’s peace and security architecture in collaboration with security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders.
According to the statement, the government has sustained dialogue, intelligence sharing, community engagement and other proactive measures aimed at preventing violence and consolidating peace across the state.
It appealed to residents, particularly those in communities affected by insecurity, to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent further attacks and lead to the apprehension of perpetrators.
The government also urged citizens to resist the temptation to embark on reprisal attacks, warning that such actions could further escalate violence and undermine ongoing peace-building efforts.

Under the leadership of Governor Mutfwang, the statement said, peace remains a priority of the Plateau State Government, while the protection of lives and property remains fundamental to its vision of rebuilding trust, restoring confidence and creating an environment where citizens can live, farm, travel, invest and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
The government commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
It assured affected communities that it shared in their pain and would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to strengthen security and secure the state.
