OKEY EHIBE, FOUNDATION AND OVER 600 SUPPORTERS JOIN APC, PLEDGE SUPPORT FOR REP EMEKA ATUMA

Chief Okey Ehibe, alongside members of his foundation and over 600 supporters, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging support for Rep Emeka Atuma’s senatorial ambition to represent Abia Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

The defection took place on October 15, 2026, at Amanwankwo, Etiti-Amavo, ABSIEC Ward 1, where Chief Ihiebe formally announced his decision to join the APC during Rep Emeka Atuma campaign to Osisioma Ngwa-LGA.

Chief Okey Ehibe, a seasoned politician with decades of experience, has contested for elective positions in the past, including the Abia State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives seats under the platforms of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively.

Explaining the reasons behind his decision to join the APC, Chief Ihiebe highlighted two major factors: the developmental projects and achievements recorded by Rep Emeka Atuma during his representation of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, as well as the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, his decision followed his assessment of Atuma’s record in public service and his support for the policy direction of the Tinubu administration.

With his foundation and a large group of supporters joining the APC, the development adds to the ongoing political activities surrounding the party and Rep Emeka Atuma’s senatorial aspiration in Abia Central.

The event was attended by party members and supporters who witnessed the formal declaration of Chief Okey Ihiebe and his group for the APC.
