Build Your Wealth at Your Own Pace, Onyeama Tells Nigerian Youths
Onyeama Augustine has advised Nigerian youths to focus on building their future through legitimate hard work rather than trying to keep up with the lifestyles of others. He encouraged young people to pursue honest means of earning a living, develop useful skills and remain committed to whatever legitimate hustle can improve their financial situation. According to him, success should be pursued with patience and determination, not through pressure to meet standards created by other people's achievements.
He stressed that young Nigerians should learn to live within their means and make financial decisions based on what they can genuinely afford. Rather than spending beyond their capacity simply to impress friends or compete with people around them, Onyeama urged youths to prioritize savings, investment and personal development. He noted that there is no shame in starting small, as sustainable progress is better than creating financial problems in an attempt to maintain an appearance of wealth.
Onyeama further cautioned against unnecessary competition, particularly the tendency to measure personal success by material possessions or social status. He encouraged youths to understand that everyone's journey is different and that genuine prosperity takes time and discipline. His message was that Nigerian youths should concentrate on becoming financially independent through honest effort, avoid unhealthy comparisons and gradually acquire the things they desire when they are financially ready to afford them.
