Peace Must Come Before Politics, Says Hon. Chinedu Akpulonu

Hon. Chinedu Akpulonu has called on Nigerians to place peace and national unity above political interests as the country moves toward the 2027 General Elections. He stressed that every individual, organisation and institution that commands public confidence has a duty to promote messages and actions that will preserve peace before, during and after the elections.

He particularly highlighted the important role of religious institutions, noting that their influence reaches a wide range of people and communities. According to him, religious leaders and organisations are strategically positioned to encourage tolerance, peaceful coexistence and responsible civic participation, using their platforms to discourage actions or rhetoric capable of creating tension and division among citizens.

Akpulonu maintained that peace should not be viewed simply as the absence of violence or disagreement, but as the essential foundation for meaningful development. He emphasised that a peaceful environment is necessary for the progress of Aba South, Abia State and Nigeria as a whole, urging all stakeholders to ensure that political competition never becomes more important than the peace and stability of the people.
