The Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning to Governor Seyi Makinde, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana, have resigned their appointments.

In an official letter tendered on Monday, November 3, 2026, both officials noted that their resignations take immediate effect.

Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and local government chairman, said he was no longer comfortable with the working environment in the administration.

In his resignation letter, he described the working environment as unconducive to effectively pursuing and fulfilling his people’s aspirations within the administration.

Despite his decision to leave, Oyeleke thanked Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and developmental programmes.

Similarly, Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to Makinde through the Chief of Staff.

The former OYSIEC member expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience in the position as worthwhile.

However, Falana did not disclose the reason for his resignation.

Their resignations came a few minutes after the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, also tendered his resignation.

Recall that the Chief of Staff to Gov Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, had earlier resigned his appointment.

Other aides have followed that trend recently, too.

Their departures come amid political developments in Oyo State where new alignments are beginning to emerge ahead of the 2027 general elections.
