Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched a statewide grassroots mobilisation drive in Kano, aimed at securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interactive session with members of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, known as ’Yan Akwatina, the governor said the party has shifted focus to the polling unit level to build strong voter support.
“The re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 offers Nigeria the best chance to sustain economic reforms and fast-track infrastructure development,” Yusuf said. “We are mobilising from the grassroots to ensure victory for all APC candidates.”
The association, led by Najib Salati, operates across the 44 local government areas, 484 wards, and all polling units in Kano State. Party officials describe the group as a key structure in voter mobilisation.
As part of the engagement, the governor announced a donation of plots of land and ₦100 million to support the group’s activities.
The Governor’s Political Adviser, Mustapha Bakwana, said the meeting marked the start of a broader mobilisation plan.
“This engagement signals the take-off of our grassroots strategy for 2027,” he said. “The association alone has the capacity to mobilise over 1.1 million votes for President Tinubu.”

The APC Chairman in Kano State, Umar Doguwa, said the party remains confident of a sweeping win.
“We are on course for a landslide victory,” Doguwa said. “The governor’s performance has weakened the opposition and strengthened our base across the state.”
The mobilisation drive comes as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the next general elections, with parties intensifying efforts to secure voter support at the grassroots.
