The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has declared that the National Assembly will fast-track critical security and economic reform bills aimed at supporting the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Akpabio said the legislature remains committed to working closely with the executive arm to address the country’s pressing national challenges and strengthen governance.
Speaking during a session with lawmakers and government officials in Abuja, Akpabio noted that Nigeria is facing serious economic and security concerns that require urgent legislative intervention. According to him, the Senate and the House of Representatives are prepared to accelerate the passage of bills that will improve national stability, encourage investment, and create opportunities for citizens.
He explained that insecurity in several parts of the country continues to affect economic activities, food production, and public confidence. The Senate President stressed that lawmakers would prioritize policies and reforms that support security agencies, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen coordination among relevant institutions tasked with protecting lives and property.
Akpabio also emphasized the need for economic reforms capable of stabilizing the nation’s economy and restoring investor confidence. He stated that the National Assembly would give speedy consideration to fiscal and financial policies designed to boost local production, expand infrastructure, and improve revenue generation across key sectors of the economy.
According to him, the legislature recognizes the sacrifices Nigerians are making amid ongoing reforms and believes that collaboration between all arms of government is necessary to achieve sustainable progress. He assured citizens that lawmakers would continue to support policies targeted at economic recovery, job creation, and national development.
The Senate President further stated that President Tinubu’s administration requires legislative backing to effectively implement reforms that can reposition the country for long-term growth. He added that the National Assembly would continue to provide oversight while ensuring that government policies serve the interests of ordinary Nigerians.
Akpabio urged political leaders, stakeholders, and citizens to support ongoing efforts aimed at stabilizing the country. He maintained that national unity and cooperation remain essential in overcoming security threats and economic difficulties currently facing the nation.

The declaration comes amid increasing public discussions over economic hardship, inflation, and security concerns across Nigeria. Political observers believe the renewed commitment by the National Assembly could play a significant role in speeding up reforms and strengthening confidence in the government’s agenda for national transformation.
