Rep. Benjamin Kalu: A Man of Peace, Progress and Purpose in Bende
By: Aglow TV
Supporters of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu describe him as a leader who has consistently chosen peace over confrontation, even in the face of criticism and political attacks. They point to incidents involving damaged billboards and negative comments on social media, saying Kalu has responded by continuing to advocate peace, loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a shared vision for a greater Bende.
His supporters also highlight what they describe as his remarkable political journey and national stature, noting that despite his position as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, he has maintained close ties with ordinary people and Bende elders. In their view, his approach to representation reflects a combination of accessibility, respect for community leadership and commitment to the interests of his constituents.
On development, Kalu's backers argue that his tenure has coincided with increased federal attention to Bende. They point to projects and interventions in areas including education, healthcare and roads, as well as the presence of two federal universities which they say will create additional opportunities for young people from Bende and surrounding communities. For them, these developments represent a shift from earlier concerns about marginalisation toward greater federal presence.
It is against this background that supporters have adopted the expression “Big Ben till 2031,” using it to signify their continued support for Kalu's leadership and development agenda. Their position is that representation should be measured not only by political rhetoric but also by visible government presence, community engagement and projects that directly affect the lives of the people.
