THE LOVE THAT KEEPS BENDE CLOSE TO BIG BEN
The moment tells its own story. From the bustling shops of Igbere to the streets and homes of the community, people put aside their daily routines and gathered to see their representative. Women stepped away from their businesses, youths paused their work, and elders left their homes to be part of the gathering. In the crowd, the smiles, anticipation and eagerness to listen created a powerful picture of the connection supporters say exists between Hon. Benjamin Kalu and the people of Bende. For them, this is grassroots support that cannot be explained by words alone.
Kalu’s supporters say that connection has been strengthened by his continued engagement with the people of Bende despite his responsibilities in Abuja. They point to his visits to the constituency, his interactions with residents and his familiarity with people across the communities as evidence that national prominence has not separated him from home. In their view, he has remained accessible and connected to the people who have followed his political journey.
For those who support him, the gathering represents more than another political appearance—it reflects the relationship they believe has been built over time. They want a representative who remains close to the people, listens to their concerns and continues to identify with their communities. And as supporters look toward the next phase of his political journey, their message remains clear and emphatic: Big Ben till 2031!
