Tinubu Commissions Section III Of Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway

The completion of the Zaria–Kano section is expected to improve road safety by providing better driving conditions, reducing hazards associated with damaged road surfaces and helping to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of lives.

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned Section III of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway, covering the Zaria–Kano corridor.

The expressway is a major transport route linking Kano with Kaduna and other parts of the country, serving thousands of commuters, traders, commercial drivers and transport operators daily.

The completion of the Zaria–Kano section is expected to improve road safety by providing better driving conditions, reducing hazards associated with damaged road surfaces and helping to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of lives.

The project is particularly important given the high volume of passenger and commercial traffic along the corridor, which plays a significant role in the movement of people and goods across Northern Nigeria, according to Tinubu, who was represented by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, at the ceremony.

Beyond road safety, the improved highway is expected to boost economic activities by facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce, manufactured goods and other commodities between Kano, Kaduna and neighbouring states.

As a major commercial hub, Kano stands to benefit from improved access to markets, reduced travel delays and lower vehicle operating costs, creating better opportunities for traders, farmers and businesses, according to a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Tofa.

The statement also noted that the commissioning underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to developing critical infrastructure that strengthens national connectivity, supports commerce and promotes economic growth.

The Kano State Government urged motorists to observe speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking and comply with traffic regulations to ensure that the improved road delivers lasting benefits to road users.
