Tinubu has done well for re-election — Ex-Abia rep

Tinubu has done well for re-election — Ex-Abia rep.

A former federal lawmaker, Chief Sam Onuigbo, has expressed strong optimism about the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He said this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday during his family thanksgiving at St Paul’s Methodist Church, Obuohia Obi-Ibere, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

Onuigbo said his conviction was based on the fact that the president had taken far-reaching decisions focused on repositioning the country for prosperity, growth and security. [minor grammatical tightening]

Onuigbo, who represents the South-East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission, admitted that the country was facing some challenges.

He said that the people should also acknowledge that Tinubu had been able to pilot the affairs of the country successfully in his two years of service.

Onuigbo said, “I have no doubt whatsoever that in 2027, Tinubu will be re-elected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The facts from the National Bureau of Statistics show that prices of food items have been coming down steadily, and that has been validated. Also, inflation has come down, and he has been able to unify the foreign exchange rates.

Interestingly, nobody has gone in search of fuel with jerry cans throughout this festive period. These are upward economic movements. So, I’m convinced that he will be re-elected.”

Onuigbo, a two-term representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia, said that the thanksgiving was in honour of God’s mercies on him and his family.

He said that God had protected and elevated him and members of his family from their humble beginnings.

“We have been through a lot, including a series of political challenges, but in all these, God saw us through, and that is why we have come to show Him gratitude,” he said.

Onuigbo, also a former Commissioner for Lands as well as Finance, pledged to rebuild the church in his community in appreciation of God’s blessings in his life.

In his sermon, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Oliver Aba, admonished the congregation to always show gratitude to God in their lives.

Aba, who narrated the story of the 10 lepers in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 17, said that God always cherished a grateful heart.

He urged the people to emulate Onuigbo’s gesture of thanksgiving and recognition of his humble beginnings.

Aglow News reports that dignitaries, including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, the Senator for Abia Central, Austin Akobundu, and many others, were present at the occasion.
